Privacy notice

What information we hold, why we hold it, and the choices you have. Written plainly, without legal fog.

This notice covers loveandbliss.org and the programme, research and journal services reached through it. It is maintained by LOVE AND BLISS (LAB). Company limited by guarantee, registered in England and Wales (No. 16147606).

Who we are

LOVE AND BLISS (LAB) is the parent organisation for The LAB Institute (research and ethics), LAB Press (publishing) and our flourishing programmes, including the Bliss Enhancement Programme (BEP). Our registered address is 128 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX, United Kingdom.

Information we collect

  • Account details — name and email address when you register, or the basic profile released by Google or Microsoft if you sign in with them.
  • Programme information — screening answers, consent records, assessment responses, practice logs, reflections and workbook entries you choose to enter.
  • Journal and repository submissions — author details, manuscripts, reviews and editorial correspondence.
  • Technical information — standard server and security logs needed to keep the service available and protected.

Why we use it

  • To deliver the programme you enrolled in and keep your progress.
  • To carry out approved research, on the basis of the consent you gave.
  • To run peer review, editorial and publishing workflows.
  • To send service messages such as consent confirmations and programme notices.
  • To safeguard participants where a disclosure indicates risk of harm.

How research data is separated

Programme facilitators support your practice; they do not have access to your assessment scores or individual assessment responses. Research records are analysed against a participant code rather than your name, and the link between the two is restricted to the principal investigator. Your written reflections are private by default and are only shared with a facilitator if you choose to share them.

Bliss Profile: optional questions about you

  • After the 40 questions, we may ask about your age band, gender, relationship status, employment status, highest education completed and the country or nation you live in. Every question is optional, you can skip them all, and “Prefer not to say” is always available.
  • Your answers do not affect your scores, your report, or eligibility for the Bliss Enhancement Programme (BEP).
  • Lawful basis: we process these answers under legitimate interests (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)), to evaluate the Bliss Profile, understand who uses it, and check it works fairly across different groups.
  • Ethnicity is special category data. We only ask about it if you tick a separate, unticked box giving your explicit consent (UK GDPR Article 9(2)(a)). Saying no has no consequence.
  • Location is collected at country or nation level only (for example England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland). We do not collect or infer your region, town, postcode, address, GPS or IP-based location.
  • Taking the Bliss Profile is not research participation. These answers are stored separately from research data and are never transferred to BEP automatically. If you later join BEP, you will be shown them and can confirm, edit, or enter fresh answers instead.
  • If your answers are not linked to a later BEP enrolment, they are deleted 12 months after you complete the Bliss Profile.

Your choices

  • You may ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • You may ask us to correct information that is wrong.
  • You may withdraw from a study at any time, from your own account, without giving a reason and without affecting any other service.
  • You may ask us to delete your account information. Data already included in a completed analysis may need to be retained for research integrity; we will tell you clearly if that applies.
  • You can unsubscribe from non-essential email at any time.

Retention

Programme and account records are kept while your account is active. Research records are kept for the period stated in the participant information sheet for that study, then disposed of in line with the approval given for it.

Cookies and analytics

We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in and to protect the site from abuse. We do not sell personal information and we do not run advertising trackers.
